Feathered Friends

My friend the hummingbird is always perched on this piece of driftwood outside my door. I have a feeder near by that usually attracts so many I can go through a quart of sugar water a day. This year it seems I have only one couple visiting. When they are nesting the female usually builds her nest away from the feeder. She will be catching insects for her young as they need protein, not sugar water. Do you know their wings flap over 50 times a second. They also have a good memory coming back to the same food source each year. Amazing little birds.
